Modern Technology!

I took myself into town today because I needed to upgrade some software on my mac. I went to the Apple shop in Manchester and got what I needed and went to the check out to pay. When I got there I thought that it was odd just to have one till. It wasn't until I had been standing there for about 5 mins that a girl came over to me and asked if she could take my items. I then noticed that all the staff in the Apple shop had their own scanners and chip and pin systems attached to them and she scanned my item and I paid by card while still waiting in the queue! What really shocked me was that I didn't get a reciept, she took my email address and it was waiting in my inbox when I got home! I was well impressed!!

So that's where all the extra money goes that they charge for their products.

I had a similar experience happen to me in the bank the other day! There was a long queue during lunchtime, and I wanted to cash in some money i had. This women then came up to me with a little hand held device, took my details (and money) and done it there and then! Was quite efficient, but made me wonder if it wouldn't of just been easier for the women just to stand behind another terminal at the front of the queue and do it the old fashioned way. i was also a bit concerned about the security issues with having my bank details flying around the bank wirelessly as the little hand held device communicated back with the main computer. I refuse to use wireless chip and pin devices because they are so easy to hack into, and lack encryption, so will probably avoid this women if I ever went back into the bank again!

Yes, I've noticed that too at the store n Regent's Street. Saved me time and seems to have demolished the old very long queues there.
