Bit Of Music!

Nothing really exciting has happened over the past few days. Just work mainly. I only have 3 more days to work and then I'm off for another 12 days - woo! Came across Mika's new video today. Loving it! I really want to see him live!

Reality Restored!

I managed to get up on time for work this morning - 15 minutes earlier just to be safe. Work itself wasn't too bad. On my way to work I was just thinking to myself that I am off again for two weeks in September for my birthday. I worked it out that I only need to work for 8 weeks. Imagine my surprise when I got in to work and checked the rota as saw that I was off the first week in July! I remember booking the week off because at the time I thought we would have to move during the first week of July. This wasn't the case, but I forgot to cancel it! So that was an unexpected surprise. Thankfully I get 7 weeks holiday a year, so it still leaves me with 2 weeks to take after the September!

Last Day!

Today is my last day of my 18 days off from work. To be quite honest, I feel rested and ready to return. The problem that I'm going to have is geting up at 6am! In the whole 18 days I've had off, I don't think I've got out of bed before 10am! I did try this morning and set my alarm to go off at 6am. I was plannng on getting up so I would be tired and sleep tonight. But when I rolled over this morning and saw the time was 9am I realised it hadn't worked. I slept completely through my alarm! I hope I don't tomorrow!

I'm never one for getting up early. I don't know why I chose a career in which I have to get up at ridiculous O'clock. Suppose the good thing about starting early is that I finish early - I'm normally home for 3pm.

In other news, me and Alan are going to see the Halle Orchestra at the Bridgewater Hall on Saturday. Alan likes film scores, and the orchestra is playing music from all the films he likes. Should be interesting. I've never seen an orchestra play live before.

Dirty Bangers!

I met a couple of mates for drinks last night - well we met at 4pm. While we were out we decided to order something to eat. On the menu the "Dirty Banger" caught my eye. It sounded quite nice. When it arrived it was huge! I totally didn't read that it was 15 inches long. It was covered with cheese and beans. It was great!! I was bloated - so much so that I'm not feeling hungry yet hehe! I didn't get in until about 1am. So much for a quick drink!!

Big Brother: New Blood

Last night Big Brother introduced what many people had been wanting from the start - men! Just before Shabnam was evicted Billi, Jonathan, Liam and Brian all entered the house. I guess a lot of girls (and guys, including me, for that matter) will be pleased to see 22 year old Liam (above). He was one of the four that entered.

Welcome To Manchester

Today, 2 years ago, was the day I packed up everything and moved the 247 miles from Newcastle to Manchester. I can't believe how fast it has gone. It's flown by. I've loved iving in Manchester. It is a completely different city to Newcastle. There's more going on, always something to do and the city doesn't seem to want to sleep! I thought I would miss Newcastle, but to be honest, I haven't really. I've been off work now for little over a week, and thought I would have the urge to go back home. I do miss my family - honest!

My time at work has flown by too. I can't believe that come the end of the month (the 28th to be exact) I would have been there 2 years too! Working here has been tons better than working at Newcastle. Even though I work in the same speciality, I've been given tons more opportnities here to study! My work in Manchester are even paying for it. I never got such opportunities in Newcastle. We were always too short staffed to do stuff!

So, here's to another year in Manchester. Wonder if it will go as fast!

Discovering: Mika

Last week a mate recommended Mika's album 'Life In Cartoon Motion'. The only track I had heard from it was the number one from a few months back 'Grace Kelly' and wasn't really too keen on it. I bought the album however, and I've now become hooked on the whole thing. Even 'Grace Kelly' has became one of my favourite tracks and I'm loving the new single 'Love Today'. It's a kind of a blend between Queen meets the Scissor Sisters. He's playing in Manchester in November - maybe I'll get round to seeing him. I've been told he's good live. He's also shot straight to the top of my last.fm weekly chart.

Heatwave!

As I sit and type this the temperature is still 23C. It has been so hot today. We need to make the most of this hot weather so me, Alan and our mates from Leeds headed to Blackpool for a drive. I miss driving to the coast, and living in Manchester - there's not much of it! When I lived in Newcastle, it was only a 15 minute drive to the coast. Blackpool is our nearest coast - I think! Anyway, we decided to go for drive, a walk along the beach and then call in for fish and chips.

When I was younger and people were more likely to holiday in the UK, I remember going to Blackpool for a week at a time. This was the time when the whole of the summer holiday had weather like abroad! It used to be roasting the whole time. We had some good times there. It's gone right back now!! It should be renamed Chavpool! The shops have gone right back and the amusements aren't what they used to be. I feel old! hehe. Saying that, this was more that 20yrs ago!

Anyway, a good day all round. I think I may have caught the sun on my face - I'm a little bit pink! Oops!

Back Behind Bars

So after being released a few days ago, Paris Hilton has been sent back to prison to serve the rest of her sentence behind bars. She was pictured crying hysterically as she left the court room in Los Angeles screaming that it wasn't fair! Well, Ms Hilton, maybe you will learn and abide by the law the next time. Just becase you're a 'celebrity' doesn't mean you can get away with it!

*rolls eyes*

Big Bother

In light of the recent race row that occured during January's 'Celebrity Big Brother', Big Brother ejected Emily from the house today after she said a racist mark to Charley. Apparently Charley was dancing and Emily said to her "Push it out Nigger". It was all said as a joke, but have Channel 4 reacted a bit harshly by ejecting her from the house?

Personally, I don't think they have. The recent race row caused Channel 4 a shit load of problems. I think they might have got away with it if Big Brother wasn't constantly streaming on e4 - it can now be watched by a larger audience 24/7. They could have easily convered it up with some clever editing. The fact that it was at 11.00pm last night also means there was quite a few people watching.

As Emily was also up for eviction againt Shabnam on Friday means that voting has temporarily been suspended. In view of the recent telephone regulations brought in, does this mean Channel 4 will have to refund everyone who voted?? How embarrasing for Channel 4 - and only 8 days into the new series. Dilemma, dilemma!

UPDATE: After watching 'Big Brother' tonight I honestly don't think that Emily should have been removed. She obviously didn't mean anything by what she said. I think if Charley hadn't gone on about it 5000 times they might not have removed her and just cautoned her. I can understand why Channel 4 took the action they did though.

2012 Olympics Logo

The official logo has been released for the 2012 London Olympic games. First thoughts were that it was terrible. However, after seeing it a few times I'm eventually getting used to it. People at the launch said that in 5 years, a lot of things will change and this is how they envisage shapes to be. Hopefully people will get used to it.

If We Took A Holiday!!!

I'm off work today, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day. In fact, I'm of until the 21st June! HOLIDAY! CELEBRATE!!! No more early mornings for me for a while! I have no real plans either. Thinking I should really head up to Newcastle for a few days to see the folks. I hope the weather stays this warm. It's been fantastic for the past few days. I'm just gonna kick back and chill - maybe catch up with a few mates and the like.
