Retail Therapy

At the weekend I decided to do some retail therapy. I needed some new clothes and decided to head into town with a mate. I thought I'd go and pick up a new pair of jeans and a new top. Well, after the whole shopping experience, I was a pair of jeans, 2 new tshirs, a jacket and new pair of shoes better off. I have no idea how much I spent. I'm thinking about the £180 mark. I'll find out in a few days time when it comes out of my bank!

It's true what they say - shopping makes you feel good!!

UPDATE: Total amount spent: £178.98

Music Rituals

Rhys posted a blog on music rituals. I'm sure many of have certain songs and albums when we're doing certain tasks. I had a think and can't really limit it down to tracks, but I managed to list albums. I thought about when I'm driving. The first album I had was Texas' 'Red Book'. Such a great album to drive to....
Texas - Can't Resist

The next is a driving CD that I have. Normally I wouldn't have this, but I got it as a gift. It's pretty good. My favourite track from it....

Soul Asylum - Runaway Train

As for what track I would use if I was a boxer to enter the ring...hmmmm. How about this??? Haha....

Big Brain Academy

I know it's late (or early depending on how you look at it), but this afternoon while shopping in town, I bought Big Brain Academy for the Wii. I've been playing on it all night - it's somewhat addictive! The aim basically is to get the biggest brain and work towards a Wii Diploma. The cool thing about it though is the function that allows you to send you student profile to other people and play against them. At the moment, I'm battling with Rhys for the title of 'Brainiac'.

If you've got the game and want to join in, add me on your Wii. My number is 8943 4080 3168 2527.

Changing Shifts & Girls Aloud

Remind me to never swap shifts with someone for a favour again! For the past two nights, I swappped and did night shift. The first night was as busy as hell and we were a member of staff down. The second wasn't too bad, but my head is all messed up. I've not long been awake. Hopefully I'll get back into the pattern soon. The only reason I swapped shifts is that it now give ne 6 days off! Has to be good?

In other news, I heard the new Girls Aloud tune today....

Girls Aloud - Sexy! No, No, No...

Yes - I'm Still Alive!

Hey ho! Yes, I'm still alive. It's been ages since I updated. To be honest, have just been busy at work. Nothing too interesting and nothing really worth blogging about. Last time I updated I had just got my bike. Well, I'm still riding to and from work (except when it's raining). Feeling a little better for doing so too!!

I'm coming to the end of my mobile contract and I can upgrade my handset on the 2nd August. I've been looking at the Sony Ericsson K810i. Looks pretty cool. Does anyone else use it? I've stuck to Nokias for a few years after moving away from them briefly. I tried a Samsung which broke and a Motorola which was horrible. So, hopefully I'll like this Sony Ericsson.

I've been off today. Met a mate and had lunch. Was nice. We went to a proper traditional greasy spoon cafe - how common! hehe. It's becoming a bit of a habit. I'm just hoping all the cycling will work it off!!

New Bike

I collected my bike today! I didn't do too bad considering that I haven't rode on one for about 10 years. It felt a bit freaky driving on the main road, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I'm going to head off out and about tomorrow to get used to it. It's fun

Big Brother Does A 'Poo'

Big Brother has just made things interesting again. On Friday they announced the start of 'fake week'. Pauline, or 'Poo', has just entered the house from the BB house in Australia (or so the housemates think). She is in fact Thaila Zucchi, an actress putting on a fake Australian accent - why they just didn't get an Australian actress I don't know! To stir things up a little, they also played a VT of Laura (who was evicted on Friday) sitting in a fake mock up of the Aussie BB Diary Room.

'Pauline' being 'evicted' from Australia

What bothers me is that the whole thing could be rumbled. Carole has already said to Gerry that it could be a fake. To make things worse, she was in a teen band called all*stars (see below) around the same time that Ziggy was in Northern Line. She has also appeared in Channel 4 shows 'Balls Of Steel', 'Soap Stories' and 'The IT Crowd'. She seems fun up to now and looks like she could cause some mischief. She is working for Big Brother and will sneek out of the house to join Dermot on BBLB through the week.

I Want To Ride My Bicycle!

In my last post, I discussed the possibility of me getting a bike. Well, the next day I met up with a mate and we went bike shopping. I haven't actually been on a bike in about 10 years and can't remember the last time I owned a bike. Looking at all the bikes was confusing. There's so many different types and all with varying price ranges. The most expensive one I saw was about £1500! Anyway, seeing as I only wanted my bike for riding to and from work, I decided not to pay £1500 but settled on a bike that was a lot cheaper. I've ordered all the accessories to go with it - helmet, lights and lock - which hopefully should come on Monday too. I hope so because there's no way I'm riding on the main road without a helmet! I'll probably need to ride it around a park a few times to get used to it first - hehe.

It got me thinking about the stuff we used to do as kids when we had bikes. One thing that stuck in my mind was those plastic things that you used to put on your spokes that made clinking noises when your wheels went round. I always remember the ones I had came free in the Frosties cereal box. I also remember getting and empty drinks carton and sqaushing it in between the rear mud guard and the wheel. Then when you rode the bike, it sounded like it was a motorbike! Ahhh, childhood memories!!

Delays!

Sorry it's been a while since I updated. The first reason has just been due to general workload etc. Been quite busy at work. Been working evening shifts most of the week. The secomd reason is due to the fact that Blogger wouldn't physically let me publish. I had tried to do 3 posts between my last post and this one. It would just say that there was an error with some connection. After Googleing the status error, I found that it wasn't just my blog it was affecting. Still, it's working now!

I'm off work again this week! I originally had bboked this week off to move apartment, but when we re-signed the lease on this place, I forgot to cancel my week off. By the time I realised it was too late and the rota had already been done. Still, can't complain really. I'm thinking of going back to Newcastle for a few days at the weekend. I was going to go last weekend but the weather stopped me. There was weather warnings galore last week. Hopefully it'll fair up a little and I can drive up.

I' thinking of being healthy and getting a bike so I can cycle to and from work. I've wanted to get a bike ever since moving to Manchester and only being a 25 minute walk away from work. I never got round to it, but a mate got a bike a few weeks ago and it got me thinking again. I think I'll go and check them out this week!
